AUGUST
Notes on what's inspiring Scarlett and the Studio Supple team this month
Henry Moore: Monumental Nature at Kew
Henry Moore’s sculptures feel completely at home here. Set amongst the beautiful Kew Gardens, the organic forms seem to echo the shapes and rhythms of nature. It’s a wonderful way to experience his work.
Courgettes
I am making the most of the glut of courgettes currently in season. I absolutely love this courgette soda bread recipe by Studio Supple’s Archie. It’s perfect paired with fresh zingy salads and a real star of the table.
Scoop Blackberry
While installing a project in the Scottish Borders, we managed to capture these sweet little buds out at this time of year: Scabiosa, also known as Scoop Blackberry. When styling and shooting a space on completion of a project, we love using seasonal, locally grown flowers. Here, we foraged a beautiful collection from a very special cutting garden nearby.
Holiday Reading
The books coming away with me this month. Around The Table by Diana Henry is a beautiful collection of rich and delicious stories, taking you to different places, cultures and moments in time. Diana Henry captures the rituals that bring us together through wonderfully observed stories of food, places and people. A very different read, Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage is an empowering account of one woman’s journey, and of her strength, resilience and determination to find her own way.
